Across East Devon we are proud to work with a number of organisations who are doing great work to help those who need a little extra support.

Open Door Exmouth

Open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9:30am to 3:30pm, and Saturdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along to our warm and friendly community cafe to enjoy good quality food and drink at extremely competitive prices.

For those who are in need, we have a team of volunteers who can offer time to listen or chat or even play a boardgame. We also have trained support workers should you need any advice or support regarding benefits or financial difficulties, housing or homelessness issues, addictions, domestic abuse or any other issues, and a counselling service for those who cannot access NHS or private counselling. If we are unable to help, we will try to suggest an alternative organisation that may be able to. We also have showers, clothing including sleeping bags, and laundry facilities available for those who are homeless.

We also provide free hot meals during school holidays to children and their families who find themselves in need due to financial crisis, and free hot meals as part of our support work for those who find themselves sleeping rough. If you are in need of this support, please visit the cafe on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday and speak to one of our support team

Seachange Devon

Seachange is an inspiring new approach to community support. Working on the basis that good health and happiness are closely linked, we offer easy access to practical support for all generations, young and old, within its area of Exmouth, Woodbury and Budleigh Salterton.

The Seachange programme of activities, classes and support runs from its base in Budleigh, East Devon. However, its reach extends throughout Woodbury, Exmouth and surrounding villages.

Our programme of events is all designed to increase social cohesiveness, reduce isolation, and loneliness whilst improving the health and happiness of our community.

Exmouth Food Bank

We know that times are hard for many people right now. We are here to help and can provide emergency food supplies if you live in Exmouth or the surrounding areas including Lympstone, Woodbury and Budleigh Salterton.

Our values are core to everything we do and they guide the decisions we make.

  • We are compassionate towards the individuals and families who turn to us for support and always treat people with dignity and respect.

  • We are non-judgmental in our dealing with others and celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, passion and commitment of those who support and work with us.

  • We value our community and recognise that by working in partnership with local agencies and organisations we can better support those in food crisis.

  • We demonstrate integrity in all that we do and treat others as we would want to be treated.

The Ottery Larder

The Ottery Larder is based at the Old Boys School in Ottery St Mary.

Originally set up as a community fridge to tackle food waste, the role of the Larder has evolved over the last few years into a hub for the community, offering a wide range of free services.

All of the offerings at the Larder are always free and are for anyone. Food is collected from supermarkets and local shops and suppliers and can be collected seven days a week. There is now a children's clothing hub which has an extensive range of local school uniforms for primary children, other clothes and shoes as well as a large range of books and toys.

They also hand out sanitary items and a range of accessories and goodies from car seats to shampoo, from cat litter to armchairs, depending on what gets donated.

Check the website for opening times and come and visit.
