Universal Credit

Get help applying for Universal Credit. Our Help to Claim service is here to support you through the first stages of your Universal Credit claim. We can help with advice from your first application through to your payment. Help to Claim is a dedicated service from Citizens Advice. It’s free, independent, and confidential.

Benefits Advice

Did you know that we can do a benefits check to see that you are getting everything you are entitled to? This is particularly important if your circumstances have changed, for example if you have lost your job, or your family circumstances are now different. You may be able to get help with your council tax bill depending on your income and savings. Taking ten minutes to talk to us can make a real difference to your income. Personal Advice

If your relationship has broken down, we can help you find out what your rights are, for example whether you can stay in the family home or who the children should live with. You can also find out how to deal with things like making a will, registering a birth or changing your name, and where else to go for help. At Citizens Advice East Devon, our friendly trained advisers can assist. ​

Housing Advice

If you need to know your rights and responsibilities with housing, at Citizens Advice East Devon we can help you. You might for example find yourself threatened with eviction if you can’t cope with your mortgage payments. Advice and support for people wanting to know more about disability benefits are a core part of the service we provide here at Citizens Advice.
