Volunteer With Us

Our volunteers are at the heart of all we do. Last year we helped over 5,000 local people to access the help they needed. We dealt with over 12,500 issues and covered a broad spectrum of advice needs. The vast majority of this help was provided by our 70-strong team of dedicated volunteer advisers and assessors, without whom we could not run the service.

Rewarding

Volunteering for us is really rewarding as you make a real difference to those who are in need across our community.
Citizens Advice East Devon is an independent local charity providing free, independent and confidential advice across East Devon.

We are a small, diverse friendly team of like-minded individuals from all backgrounds. We enjoy helping and out team enjoys working together.

Local

Current Volunteering Opportunities

Chair of Trustees (voluntary position)

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our charity, as our current Chair’s term of office ends, and as we emerge from the pandemic and aim to address the additional challenges of the cost of living crisis.

The Citizens Advice service offers free confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person. We give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.  We help with everything from money issues to problems at work, housing to consumer rights.

While you may not have experience of the charitable sector, or the Citizens Advice service, you will have extensive and proven leadership experience. Compassionate leadership and collaboration skills are essential in leading our Trustee Board to provide oversight and governance support and to support our Chief Executive to develop new strategies and initiatives.

You will be passionate about social justice and our work, share our values, and lead by example. You will be able to support the trustee board and Leadership Team with financial management, income generation, and supporting workforce development, while promoting the continued growth of an inclusive team culture and developing a trusted community service.

We recognise the positive value of diversity, promote equality and inclusion and challenge discrimination. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
